Finding the best VPNs for getting a Turkish IP address: Our methodology

While many VPNs offer servers in Turkey and allow you to get a Turkish IP address, not all are of good quality. However, it’s not always easy to know if what a VPN provider is stating is true (many claim to be the fastest VPN, for example). Our methodology for finding the best VPNs for getting a Turkish IP address took the following into account:

Speed

The faster your VPN is, the better. After all, every VPN has some impact  on your connection, and this increases the further away your chosen server is. The problem is that the internet’s inherent randomness makes it difficult to get accurate readings on a provider’s performance. So how do we combat this and give our readers an idea of the speeds they can actually expect?

The answer is simple: we replicate a home broadband connection. Our test server matches the average household broadband speed in the US (250 Mbps). We connected to each providers’ servers in Turkey (as these are what you need for a Turkish IP address). Finally, we ran three tests at different times of day to account for any outliers. Can I use a free VPN to get an IP address for Turkey?

No, it’s unlikely a free VPN will work in Turkey since the Turkish government has been cracking down on VPNs. Free VPNs often attract the most attention in such cases, due to the high number of users trying to access the same servers. For this reason, very few free VPNs actually work in Turkey.

Even those select few free VPNs that do work in Turkey tend to suffer from other issues. In particular, free VPNs offer inferior performance.
